PopJar for a software or online product

You shipped the feature. The launch post is still a blank tab.

You build software or run something online: an app, a tool, a course, a membership. Every week something ships, and the only record of it is a changelog nobody reads. PopJar turns a real screenshot and a sentence about what it fixes into a finished post, built from how you talk.

Your week, and where the post goes missing

Monday you fix the bug three people wrote in about. Wednesday a feature ships that took two months. Friday is support, a pricing question and a call. Every one of those was worth a post, and none of them got one, because the post always comes after the work and the work never stops.

When you do open a social app, you are a founder staring at a box, trying to sound like a marketer. The tools you tried wrote about features your product does not have, or wanted a slogan and a stock photo of a laptop. Your product is right there on your own screen. That is the picture.

Step by step

What you hand PopJar, and what comes back

  1. You send

A real screenshot of your product (demo data if you have it, nothing private if you do not), and one sentence about the thing it fixes.

    PopJar makes

A finished post with your actual screen, a first line that names the moment someone needs that thing, and one clear next step to your site. Built from how you talk, with your logo and colors on it. It mentions a free trial only if your site really offers one. You check it and say yes, then you post it.

  2. You send

A short screen recording of one feature doing its one thing.

    PopJar makes

A short video built from your own recording, with your words on screen so it works with the sound off. No stock footage, no actor at a laptop.

  3. You send

A typed sentence about what shipped this week, straight from the changelog.

    PopJar makes

PopJar writes it back to you first so you can see it understood. Then it makes the post from what you said, in plain words rather than the words of the changelog, and nothing you did not say.

Then you save the picture, copy the words, and post it yourself. PopJar does not post anything for you today; scheduled posting is being built and is not switched on yet.

The difference

What PopJar learns about you and your work

A tool that does not know you writes about a feature you do not have, for a person you do not sell to, with a free trial you never offered. PopJar shows you every line it learned, you fix any that are wrong, and every post is built from those lines and your real screens. If your site does not say there is a trial, the post does not say it either. That is the whole difference between a post about your product and a post about any product.

  • Your product's name and what it actually does, read from your site: the features you have, not the ones you plan to build.
  • Who it is for and where they are: online, across the country, or somewhere in particular. PopJar never asks you for a town.
  • Your colors and your logo, so every post looks like yours.
  • How you talk: blunt and technical, or friendly and plain. PopJar reads it from your own words.
  • Your real screens. PopJar works from your screenshots and recordings and never swaps in a stock picture of a laptop.
  • Where to send people: your site, your pricing page or a demo link.
  • You check each line and fix anything that is wrong, in plain words.

This month

Six posts you could make this month

Plain ideas, not PopJar’s writing. Each one starts with something you already have on your phone.

  1. One feature, one screenshot, one line about the moment someone needs it.
  2. The bug you fixed this week, and what it was doing to the people who hit it.
  3. A screen recording of the thing that used to take a spreadsheet, now done in your product.
  4. The question support gets most, answered in two lines with the screen that answers it.
  5. What you built first, and why, as a short story from the founder.
  6. A plain post about what changed in the latest update, in words a new user could follow.

Questions founders and product makers ask

I am the founder and the whole team. How long does this take?

Take a screenshot you already have and type one sentence. PopJar makes the post. You read it, say yes, and post it. The writing and the picture are its work. The checking is yours.

Is this an ad maker?

No. PopJar makes posts and short videos for your own pages, built from your own screenshots and recordings. It is not a place to make or run ads.

Will it say my product has a free trial?

Only if your site says so. PopJar reads your site first and does not write a trial, a price or a feature it did not find there or get from you. If it cannot say something, it tells you and asks for the real thing.

Can I use real screenshots? What about the data on screen?

Use your real product with demo data on screen. That is what a strong post is built from, and nobody's private information needs to be in it. PopJar works from the screen you send and puts your words and your logo on it. It does not draw a fake one.

Does PopJar post it for me?

Not today. Once you approve a post, you save the picture, copy the words, and post it yourself, wherever your product's pages are. Scheduled posting is being built and is not switched on yet.

Will this get me users?

PopJar does not promise that. PopJar is building reports on what a post brings in. They are not switched on yet. Until they are, PopJar shows you nothing rather than a guess.
