PopJar for a nonprofit, club, church or group

The program ran. The people came. The post is still a blank box.

You run a program, a congregation, a club or a cause, usually on top of other work and with help from people who are busy too. The work happens every week and almost none of it is seen outside the room. PopJar turns a photo of your program, taken with permission, into a finished post about this week's need.

Your week, and where the post goes missing

Tuesday is the food pantry, Thursday the youth group, Saturday a cleanup with a dozen volunteers. Someone took photos. Nobody has time to turn them into anything, because the person who runs the page also runs the program, the budget and the thank-you notes.

A Facebook page is about all a small group can keep up with, and even that goes quiet for weeks. When something does get written, it reads like a notice board. The tools you tried wanted a marketing plan, and you have a Tuesday.

Step by step

What you hand PopJar, and what comes back

  1. You send

A photo of your program at work, taken with the permission of the people in it.

    PopJar makes

A finished post with your photo, a first line that names this week's need in plain words, and one clear next step: how to give, sign up or come along. Built from how your group talks, with your logo and colors on it. You check it and say yes, then you post it.

  2. You send

A voice note after the program: what happened, who it helped, what you need next week.

    PopJar makes

PopJar writes it back to you first so you can see it understood. Then it makes the post from what you said, and nothing you did not say. No number of people helped or dollars needed unless you gave it.

  3. You send

A short clip of the setup, the hall filling, or the work being done, with everyone in it aware and willing.

    PopJar makes

A short video built from your own footage, with your words on screen so it works with the sound off. Nothing stock, and no picture of people you did not film.

Then you save the picture, copy the words, and post it yourself. PopJar does not post anything for you today; scheduled posting is being built and is not switched on yet.

The difference

What PopJar learns about you and your work

A tool that does not know your group writes about a program you do not run, a drive that ended last year, and a need you never named. PopJar shows you every line it learned, you fix any that are wrong, and every post is built from those lines and your photos. That is the difference between a post about your work and a post about a cause in general.

  • Your group's name, your mission and your programs, read from your website or your page.
  • The place your work happens, or everywhere you reach.
  • Where to send people: your giving link, your sign-up page or your phone.
  • Your colors and your logo, so every post looks like your group.
  • How your group talks: warm and plain, or steady and formal. PopJar reads it from your own words.
  • Your real photos. When you add one with a person in it, PopJar asks whether they said yes, and keeps your answer. It never swaps in a stock picture of a stranger.
  • You check each line and fix anything that is wrong, in plain words.

This month

Six posts you could make this month

Plain ideas, not PopJar’s writing. Each one starts with something you already have on your phone.

  1. This week's need, in one picture and two plain lines, with how to help.
  2. A thank-you to the volunteers who showed up on Saturday, with the photo they said yes to.
  3. What one program does on an ordinary week, for someone who has never been inside.
  4. When and where you meet, in one picture, before the newcomer has to ask.
  5. The thing you are collecting this month, and the last day to drop it off.
  6. A plain post about how to give, for the person who has been meaning to.

The plan that fits

Questions nonprofits and groups ask

Can I post photos of the people we help, or of our volunteers?

Only with their yes. When a picture shows a person, PopJar asks whether you have their permission before it uses it, and records your answer. A photo of the hall, the supplies or the setup needs no permission at all.

One volunteer runs our page in her spare time. Is this more work for her?

Send the photo someone already took. PopJar makes the post. She reads it, says yes, and posts it. The writing and the picture are its work, not hers.

Will it make up how many people we helped, or a dollar goal?

PopJar is built not to make things up. It will not write a number, a goal, a date or a quote it did not get from you. If it cannot say something, it tells you and asks for the real thing.

We are a small club, not a charity. Does this fit us?

Yes. A club, a church, a team, a troop or a community group all post the same things: when you meet, what happened this week, and how to join in. PopJar learns your group from your page and talks about your programs the way your group does.

Does PopJar post it for me?

Not today. Once you approve a post, you save the picture, copy the words, and post it to Facebook, Instagram or Google Business yourself. Scheduled posting is being built and is not switched on yet.

Will this bring in more donations or volunteers?

PopJar does not promise that. PopJar is building reports on what a post brings in. They are not switched on yet. Until they are, PopJar shows you nothing rather than a guess.
